Microblading - permanent eyebrow makeup

Microblading - permanent eyebrow makeup

24th Jun 2021

Not all women have been blessed with perfect eyebrows - in fact, most women struggle with their natural eyebrows and use makeup and various other cosmetic products to keep their eyebrows looking pretty. Whether too light or too irregular, eyebrows in poor condition can highly affect the appearance of the entire face. That is why many women decide to get a cosmetic treatment to somehow fix their eyebrows.

Makeup is a very short-termed solution for poor-conditioned eyebrows. Not only does it have to be applied every day only to wash it down in the evening, but it also does not help with the eyebrow condition, only covers it. Makeup won’t help women with damaged eyebrows or extremely thin and light brows, as it would look too unnatural to create a beautiful effect. There is, however, another way to help such clients maintain a gorgeous pair of eyebrows - microblading.

What is microblading? Microblading is an innovative method of permanent makeup that can easily improve the appearance of the eyebrows for a long time. No longer will your clients have to re-apply makeup every day, as the effects of microblading stay visible no matter what. It is also a huge help for women whose eyebrows cannot be simply fixed with makeup, allowing them to enjoy gorgeous brows, which previously was unavailable to them.

If you’re a stylist looking for premium microblading equipment, we invite you to browse the offer of our online store at Noble Lashes. We offer a variety of equipment used during microblading treatments, such as mascara wands, applicators, rings for pigment, removable inserts for pigment mixers, combs, blades, eyebrow tinkles, and much more.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a great way of reconstructing uneven, too thin, and too light eyebrows. Microblading fills the gaps in the eyebrows, giving them a sharp contour that will last far longer than traditional henna tinting techniques. Microblading eyebrows is the perfect treatment for women who are sick of having to apply makeup and contour their own eyebrows every day, and desire a natural, long-lasting result.

Microblading is always performed by a professional stylist in a cosmetic salon - since it is an invasive procedure, it requires a lot of experience and skill from the stylist. To perform microblading, you will have to pass a microblading course. During the treatment, a stylist paints additional hair directly on the skin of the eyebrows. To do that, the stylist needs to use a special set of tools, including microblading pens and blades. As the eyebrows get painted, the microblading pen delicately cuts the skin and introduces a dye that has been chosen to fit with the eyebrow colour of the client.

At Noble Lashes, you can find the Noble Brow dye for microblading - a professional dye developed and manufactured with cosmetic salons in mind. Noble Brow dye features a perfect consistency and form and does not drip from the blades of a microblading pen. The Noble Brow dye is available in black, black-brown, dark brown, brown, light-brown, brown-grey, dark-grey, and in skin colour.

Microblading provides a subtle and natural effect, creating the illusion of additional hair on the eyebrows. While those effects become visible only after a week after the treatment is finished, as the swelling and redness need to come off and the dye needs to settle properly, they can stay visible on the eyebrows for up to two years!

How does a microblading treatment look like?

The whole treatment only takes about an hour for an experienced stylist. Instruct your clients not to have any eyebrow treatments for at least three weeks before their appointment. To save your and your client’s time, instruct your client to come without any makeup on their faces, and especially on their eyebrows.

The treatment begins with the stylist deeply cleansing the face and eyebrows of the client to remove any flaked epidermis and oiled substances that could disrupt the treatment. For cleaning the face and removing makeup, we recommend using an oil-free micellar makeup remover to avoid irritating the skin. For the eyebrows, use a professional eyebrow cleanser that will thoroughly clean the hair yet remain gentle for the skin.

Many clients repeatedly ask the same question - does microblading hurt? After the eyebrows are properly cleaned, the stylist applies a numbing cream to the eyebrows and the neighbouring areas which makes the treatment fully painless. With the cream properly applied to the eyebrows, the procedure remains comfortable for the client and safe. The topical ointment usually takes around 40 minutes to start working. During that time, you can discuss the desired colour and shape with your client.

Before you begin applying the pigment, you first need to choose the appropriate dye. Choose one that matches the natural eyebrow colour of your client. Take a simple eyebrow pencil and contour the desired shape of the eyebrows. Finally, you can take the microblading pen and begin applying the dye to your client’s eyebrows.

The brow area can be easily shaped by threading the hairs with a handy brush. That will clean up the eyebrows and prepare them for the treatment. The needling process works by gently implanting the pigment with gentle strokes. If your client still feels some pain or discomfort at this point, add another layer of the numbing cream and wait at least another 5 minutes.

Many stylists recommend another treatment 6-8 weeks after the initial microblading procedure to fill in any gaps where the dye has not taken.

Contraindications

While microblading is a safe and proven method of improving the eyebrows, it is also quite invasive as it cuts through the client’s skin and introduces a foreign substance to it. Because of that, it is always advised to provide your client’s with a questionnaire to fill out. The questionnaire includes questions about illnesses of your client and their health condition, including whether they take any medication or nor and other important information. If according to the questionnaire, there are any contraindications to doing the treatment - you should cancel it.

Before the treatment, your clients should not pick, tweeze, or wax their eyebrows for at least a week. They also should not use sunbeds or sit in direct sunlight for at least two weeks before the treatment. Instruct them to refrain from using facial peels for at least two weeks before the treatment. Moreover, they should stop using retinol and vitamin A products for one month before the treatment.

It is always heavily advised to visit a doctor or a cosmetologist before a microblading treatment to confirm whether the client is in good condition and can receive the treatment. One of the most common contraindications is an allergy to the pigment used in the procedure. Before performing the treatment, make sure to give your client a patch or a scratch test to check whether they are allergic to the dye or not.
