Curing the Glue Drop – A Small Gesture, a Big Difference in a Lash Stylist’s Work
28th Apr 2025
Most lash stylists forget about this – but it’s crucial for health and application quality!
In the everyday work of a lash stylist, there are tasks that may seem minor but have a huge impact on the durability of lash applications, the comfort of the work environment, and – most importantly – the health of both the stylist and the client.
One of these often-overlooked steps is curing the glue drop. It's a small action that makes a real difference.
Find out why it’s worth implementing this habit and how to do it correctly.
Why is curing the glue drop so important?
When you finish working with an old drop of adhesive and prepare a new one, never leave the used drop unattended on the jade stone or glue pad.
Even if it seems dry, it can still emit cyanoacrylate fumes – the main component of lash adhesives. These fumes can negatively affect:
-
the air quality around your workstation,
-
the durability of new applications,
-
the health of both you and your client.
Regular curing of glue drops:
✅ stops the emission of harmful fumes,
✅ improves workplace comfort,
✅ reduces the risk of irritation and allergies,
✅ preserves the full bonding power of the fresh glue drop.
How to properly cure a glue drop?
It’s quick and easy! Here are two effective methods:
1. Curing with water from an atomizer (emergency method)
-
Move the used glue drop to the side of the glue pad.
-
Spray a light mist of clean water directly onto the drop using an atomizer or pipette.
-
The drop should harden immediately – a matte surface indicates the curing process is complete.
Important: using water should be a last resort! Contact with water can cause the glue to overheat and emit smoke.
2. Curing with professional products (recommended)
-
Soak a lint-free applicator with a small amount of cleaner, primer, or accelerator.
-
Gently press the applicator against the old glue drop.
-
After a few seconds, the drop will solidify, and the emission of fumes will stop.
This method is fast, safe, and hygienic – perfect for a professional salon setting.
What are the benefits of regularly curing glue drops?
- Better working conditions – fewer irritating fumes and fresher air around your workstation.
- Higher quality lash applications – the fresh glue drop won't "catch" fumes from the old one.
- Greater professionalism – clients notice when you care about every detail!
Summary: a small step, a huge impact
Curing glue drops should become a regular habit for every lash stylist, regardless of experience level.
By caring for these small details:
-
you protect your health and your client’s health,
-
you ensure the highest quality results,
-
you build a professional reputation.
Remember:
Clean air, a fresh glue drop, and a tidy station are essential for beautiful, long-lasting lash sets!
